Soho Management meets with Durango State Governor
On September 18th 2009, Soho management had the opportunity to meet privately with Durango State Governor Ismael Hernandez Deras along with other Mexican State and federal government officials to discuss infrastructure requirements for the successful future development of the Company's Tahuehueto Project. On September 18th 2009, Soho management had the opportunity to meet privately with Durango State Governor Ismael Hernandez Deras along with other Mexican State and federal government officials to discuss infrastructure requirements for the successful future development of the Company's Tahuehueto Project. Discussion centered around electrical power requirements and access road upgrades that will be necessary to support any future mining operations on the Tahuehueto Project.
In addition, social initiatives commenced by the Company at the Project were discussed to reaffirm the State's continued support of staffing teachers to the elementary school on site and to request the state provide professional medical staff to the recently established medical clinic so as to improve the quality of life of the local residents. Finally, although not a state responsibility, the Company sought assistance and advice on certain Federal tax issues that impact the Company's operations in Mexico.
The Governor emphasised that the State of Durango recognizes the importance of the Tahuehueto Project to the local population, the economic benefit to the State of Durango and Mexico, as well as to the Mexican mining industry both now and hopefully, well into the future. He has been very impressed with how Soho has developed the project while maintaining its role as a good corporate citizen to the State and to the local community .In particular the continued employment of local residents, the creation of an elementary school and a medical clinic by Soho for the local population were all singled out as very positive social achievements.
Soho is pleased to say the follow up on the above issues has been excellent and was commenced by the Governor's staff the next business day after the initial meeting, with direct telephone calls to the Company's office. Soho wishes to thank Governor Hernandez and his staff for their assistance now and well into the future. The State of Durango is clearly "Open For Business" and full credit should be extended to Governor Hernandez's State Government for fostering a business friendly environment backed up with action as demonstrated with large scale State infrastructure improvements including the Durango - Mazatlan freeway expansion ( a $US 1 billion project) and the Durango - Culiacan new highway construction project.
Soho will keep an open line of communication with the Durango State Government and work towards realizing the cooperation of both State and Federal assistance in developing the infrastructure necessities to support any future mining operations at Tahuehueto.
